Iran's Investment Organization Chief: Membership in BRICS New Development Bank Nears Finalization

Mehdi Heydari, head of Iran's Organization for Investment, Economic and Technical Assistance, said on state television on Thursday, October 1, 2026 (9 Mehr 1405) that Iran's accession to the BRICS New Development Bank (NDB) is nearly finalized, with only a few steps remaining, Mehr News Agency reported. He said a meeting was held with the bank's president during the recent BRICS summit, and Iran's economy minister had recently traveled to Russia and India, meeting with the two countries' economy ministers and central bank governors. Heydari described BRICS member states as accounting for more than 40 percent of the world's population and more than 25 percent of global GDP and trade.
