Iran's national gas company is drawing up operational scenarios for winter gas transmission

The chief executive of the National Iranian Gas Company said on Sunday 26 July 2026 that operational scenarios for winter gas transmission are being drawn up, and stressed the readiness of the gas transmission network in the country's northeast to get through the winter consumption peak.
According to Mehr News Agency, the remarks were made while reviewing the transmission network's state of readiness.
Winter gas shortfalls matter directly for Iran's markets, because fuel restrictions in the cold months have previously cut output at steel, cement and petrochemical plants. The report did not give quantitative details of the scenarios or the size of the shortfall expected.
