Iran's tax chief reports 46 percent growth in tax revenues in the first four months of 1405

Eghtesad Online reported on Tuesday 28 July 2026 that the head of Iran's National Tax Administration said tax revenues in the first four months of the year 1405 rose 46 percent compared with the same period a year earlier.
According to the report, the increase came even though the government had extended tax payment and filing deadlines during the days of war and crisis, a step that would normally be expected to reduce collections. The tax chief attributed the outcome not to greater pressure on taxpayers but to reliance on data and the automation of processes.
Tax revenue is one of the two main pillars financing the government budget alongside oil income. A higher share of tax in covering government spending is generally read as reduced reliance on borrowing from the central bank and on oil sales, a variable that bears on growth in the monetary base and on inflation expectations.
