The spokesman for Iran's national water and wastewater company said on Saturday 1 August 2026 (10 Mordad 1405), in an interview with the Young Journalists Club, that there is currently no forecast or decision regarding an increase in water tariffs.
He said decisions on tariffs rest with the government's economic bodies and the Ministry of Energy, and are taken in coordination with the energy minister and in line with existing requirements.
According to the spokesman, the company hopes no such increase will occur and that the matter can be managed with the same tariff increase that was applied at the beginning of the Iranian year 1405. Water and energy tariffs are direct components of the household cost basket and among the inputs to inflation calculations.
