After a drone attack on Saudi Arabia's strategic East West pipeline, which struck the Riyadh and Medina areas on the night of Friday, 20 Shahrivar 1405 (September 11, 2026), was traced to a position in Iraq's Maysan province, Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Falih al Zaidi dismissed the military operations commander for the province and ordered an investigative council into the command's conduct. According to Al Mayadeen, carried by Ecoiran, the Iraqi government stressed that its territory and airspace would not be allowed to serve as a launchpad for attacks against any country.
Per the same report, the Iraqi government has temporarily halted operations at the Shalamcheh and Chazzabeh border crossings with Iran's Khuzestan province. According to Tasnim News Agency, the decision has stopped passenger and vehicle transit at both crossings, leaving a number of citizens stranded near the border terminals.
