IRGC Says Three Tankers and Another Vessel Hit Mines in Hormuz; UKMTO Reports Projectile Strike on a Tanker
Sahmino Newsroom | 30 October 2026 | 13 hours ago
The navy of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said three tankers caught fire after hitting mines in the Strait of Hormuz, and that another vessel struck mines in the eastern part of the waterway, according to Al Jazeera's live coverage on Friday, October 30, 2026 (8 Aban 1405). The IRGC had earlier said the tankers were using an "unauthorised" route. This is the IRGC's account; Al Jazeera did not report the ships' names or flags, or the extent of damage.
Donya-e-Eqtesad, citing the UK Maritime Trade Operations centre (UKMTO), reported that an unidentified projectile hit a tanker in the Strait of Hormuz on the night of Thursday, October 29 (7 Aban). The same paper reported on Friday morning a fire on a ship northeast of Khasab, Oman, in the strait; no further details were published and its link to the other two reports is unclear.
According to Sahmino's data, Brent crude traded at $112.07 at 08:01 on Friday, October 30 (8 Aban), 3.4 percent below the previous session.
