The Iranian Students Polling Agency (ISPA) conducted a survey titled "Measuring internet users' attitudes towards social networks and communication technologies" between 15 and 21 June 2026 (25 to 31 Khordad 1405). The study was carried out through face to face interviews with 4,060 internet users across the country, and its results were published by the IRNA news agency and carried by Eghtesad Online on Wednesday, 5 August 2026 (14 Mordad 1405).
According to the findings, 37.6% of internet users said they have no familiarity at all with artificial intelligence tools, 25.4% have only heard the names of such tools, 29% are able to use them to some degree, and 7.9% use artificial intelligence professionally in their work.
Among users who do use artificial intelligence, ChatGPT is the leading tool with a 90.3% share. The reported uses are varied: 51.1% for general information, 44.1% for education and skills learning, 38.7% for editing photos and video, and 30.5% for translation and language tasks. The figures indicate that alongside a wide gap in general familiarity with the technology, the active segment of Iranian users is adapting quickly to leading tools.
