Mohsen Rezaei: Continued Hormuz Blockade Risks US Forces, Iran Will Not Allow Second Corridor
7 August 2026 | 2 months ago
Mohsen Rezaei, secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, wrote on his personal account on X on Friday, 16 Mordad 1405 (August 7, 2026), regarding developments around the Strait of Hormuz, that if the blockade continues, American ships and forces would face serious dangers and casualties. He said the United States must change its behavior or Iran would not tolerate the situation, and stressed that Iran would never allow a second corridor to open in the strait.
The statement came as, according to earlier reports, Iran and Oman have moved close to agreement on a draft to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, with the plan still awaiting final approval in Tehran. Rezaei, a former IRGC commander during the Iran-Iraq war who was recently appointed secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, had previously also rejected any opening of a second corridor in the strait.
