Hossein Ali Haji Deligani, a member of Iran's parliament, said in an interview with Entekhab on Saturday, September 12, 2026 (21 Shahrivar 1405), that a three urgency bill for Iran to withdraw from the Nuclear Non Proliferation Treaty (NPT), signed by a group of lawmakers, has been prepared and will go to a floor vote pending the presiding board's approval. He made the remarks in response to the International Atomic Energy Agency's referral of Iran's nuclear file to the UN Security Council, calling the agency untrustworthy over what he described as a history of bad faith.
According to Donya-e-Eqtesad, Haji Deligani added that, in his view, Iran should carry out the necessary nuclear weapons tests as soon as possible, calling nuclear deterrence an unavoidable necessity for the country. It should be noted that this is the personal position of one member of parliament, and has not been approved on the floor or adopted as official Iranian government policy.
