The Israeli prime minister's office said in a statement on Friday, 24 July 2026, that Benjamin Netanyahu will depart for Washington on Monday at Donald Trump's invitation and will meet the US president at the White House on Tuesday. According to the statement, he will also attend the funeral service for Senator Lindsey Graham during the same trip. It will be Netanyahu's seventh visit to the White House during Trump's second term.
The meeting is scheduled at a point when the US and Israeli war with Iran has escalated again following the collapse of the ceasefire set out in the memorandum of understanding signed by Washington and Tehran in June. US Central Command said on Friday that its forces had completed a thirteenth consecutive night of strikes on Iran, and Iran has responded daily against US positions in the region.
For Iran's markets, high level meetings between Washington and Israel are one of the variables shaping risk expectations, the same variable that has driven swings in the exchange rate, gold and the Tehran bourse indices in recent weeks.
