New Customs Circular Sets Deadline for Car Imports by Iranians Living Abroad

6 September 2026 · last month

According to ISNA, carried by Donya-e-Eqtesad on Sunday, September 6, 2026 (15 Shahrivar 1405, at 2:29pm), a new customs circular was issued setting a time limit on car import registration and customs clearance for Iranians living abroad, under Article 92 of the executive rules for Iran's 1405 (2026 to 2027) budget law. Per the circular, import registrations filed under this provision after the start of the new Iranian month on September 23, 2026 (1 Mehr 1405) will remain valid only until the end of the current Iranian fiscal year, by which point registration, customs declaration and final clearance of these cars must be completed.

The circular instructs Iran's Comprehensive Trade System to apply the necessary system level restrictions to enforce this deadline and requires clear, wide reaching notice to applicants at the time import registration permits are issued.
