US President Donald Trump told Al Jazeera, in an interview published Wednesday, 4 Shahrivar 1405 (August 26, 2026), that he has no timetable for Iran's return to negotiations and is in no hurry. He said the United States is winning very big while Iran faces heavy inflation and a sharply weaker currency. The remarks come six months after the US war on Iran began on February 28, and after a 60 day US Iran memorandum covering the Strait of Hormuz, sanctions relief and nuclear talks expired earlier this month. According to Alanchand.com, the free market dollar rate in Tehran reached 201,600 tomans (2.016 million rials) on Wednesday evening, up 100 tomans from the previous day, a level consistent with Sahmino's own price feed, which showed 2.005 million rials at 18:14 the same day. Iran's Foreign Ministry has called the latest US sanctions a violation of international law and the UN Charter.
