Offices and banks in Iran's Kermanshah province to close on Wednesday to manage energy use

The deputy governor for management and resources development in Iran's Kermanshah province said on Tuesday 28 July 2026 that all government offices, banks and public non governmental bodies in the province will be closed on Wednesday 29 July. The stated reason is management of energy consumption and continuing high temperatures.
The decision follows a series of provincial measures aimed at reducing load on the electricity network this summer. On Tuesday 28 July, working hours for offices in Kordestan province were also cut by decision of the crisis management headquarters.
Electricity shortfalls are among the variables weighing on Iranian industrial output during the hot months. A deputy industry minister has previously said the steel industry lost about 10 million tonnes of production capacity last year as a result of energy shortfalls.
