Mohammad Azim Malek, deputy for management and resource development at the Kurdistan provincial governor's office, announced on Tuesday 6 Mordad 1405 (28 July 2026) that all offices, executive and public bodies, banks and insurance companies in the province will be closed on Wednesday 7 Mordad (29 July).
He said the decision was taken because of rising temperatures and in order to manage the energy shortfall, on the proposal of the working group on optimal energy consumption and with the approval of the governor of Kurdistan. Relief, service, operational bodies and medical centres are exempt. Teams from the provincial power distribution company will monitor electricity use at executive bodies in the field on Wednesday.
In Markazi province, the deputy for management and resource development at the governor's office announced reduced working hours for executive bodies on Wednesday 7 Mordad for the same purpose. The closure of offices and banks in Kermanshah province on the same day had been announced earlier. Closing banks and insurance companies in a province affects settlement and banking services for that day.
