Pakistan's Foreign Minister urges restraint and de-escalation in call with Araghchi
12 July 2026 | 3 months ago
On Sunday, July 12, 2026, Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held a phone call with Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi to discuss the evolving regional situation. According to Pakistan's foreign ministry, Dar urged all parties to exercise restraint and pursue de-escalation in line with the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding reached in June.
Dar described dialogue and diplomacy as the only way to resolve disputes and achieve lasting peace and stability, and reaffirmed Islamabad's readiness to play a constructive role in the region. The two sides agreed to remain in close contact.
The call came amid sharply rising tensions between Iran and the United States, after Iran again declared the Strait of Hormuz closed, a waterway whose developments feed directly into oil, currency and gold prices inside Iran.
