3 August 2026 | 3 months ago
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held two separate phone calls on Monday, 3 August 2026, with Pakistani Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar and Omani Foreign Minister Badr Albusaidi to discuss the latest regional developments. According to statements issued from Iran, Araghchi and Dar reviewed "the latest regional developments and the course of ongoing diplomatic efforts" and stressed continued close cooperation and consultation aimed at establishing lasting peace and stability in the region.
In a separate statement, Pakistan's Foreign Ministry said Dar used the call to invite Araghchi to visit Islamabad at the earliest opportunity. On the call with his Omani counterpart, the statements referred only to an exchange of views on recent regional developments, with no further details released.
The calls came with talks between Iran and the United States stalled since the memorandum of understanding signed in June 2026, over disagreements on security guarantees and freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's most strategic routes for energy supplies and global trade.
