28 August 2026 · last month
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said on the evening of Friday, August 28, 2026 (6 Shahrivar 1405), during state broadcaster IRIB's live interview program, that the country's third tier gasoline price will rise from 5,000 to 10,000 tomans per liter after coordination with relevant institutions. He stressed the third tier price would not go any higher than that figure.
Debate over revising the third tier price had circulated in Iranian media since July 2026, and the government's spokesperson had denied any such plan on July 21. Friday night's remarks mark the first time the final figure has been confirmed by the country's top executive official; an exact implementation date has not yet been announced.
