Qatar and Saudi Arabia condemn the attacks on US bases in Jordan and Kuwait, with Doha warning of wider escalation

The foreign ministries of Qatar and Saudi Arabia issued separate statements on Thursday, 30 July 2026, condemning the attacks on Jordan and Kuwait and describing them as violations of the two countries' sovereignty.
According to Al Jazeera, Qatar's foreign ministry statement added that continued attacks escalate tension and could complicate the efforts made to contain tensions in the region. Doha also expressed solidarity with Jordan and Kuwait and voiced support for the measures the two countries take to preserve their sovereignty and security. Saudi Arabia's foreign ministry issued a similar statement condemning the attacks.
Jordan's army said earlier the same day that its air defences had intercepted and shot down five missiles fired at its territory, and that the incident caused no injuries. Arab media reported that the target of the new wave was the Muwaffaq al-Salti air base. The statements come after Saudi Arabia and the United States struck Popular Mobilization Forces bases in Iraq in a joint operation, a sequence of developments that keeps regional risk, and with it oil prices and shipping insurance, under pressure.
