Qatar's Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani told CNN, in remarks carried by ISNA on Saturday, September 26, 2026, that the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz is unacceptable and must stop. He said it has had a damaging effect on Persian Gulf states, particularly Qatar, which cannot move its ships out of the region.

Al Thani described the strait as a strategic waterway whose insecurity is an international problem, called for coordinated international action, and said the insecurity arose from the US and Israeli war on Iran. Qatar has been one of the mediators passing messages between Tehran and Washington in recent months. Before the war, about a fifth of the world's traded oil and gas passed through the Strait of Hormuz.
