Qatar holds talks with Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Türkiye on implementing the Strait of Hormuz memorandum
26 July 2026 | 3 months ago
Qatar's prime minister and foreign minister held separate phone calls on Sunday 26 July 2026 (4 Mordad 1405) with the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Türkiye, stressing the need to stay with dialogue, reduce regional tensions and implement the memorandum on the Strait of Hormuz.
The calls came on the same day Qatar announced it had fully resumed its maritime navigation activities after a two-week pause, and as Iran and Oman reported progress in technical talks on mechanisms for the passage of ships.
The Strait of Hormuz carries a large share of the region's oil and LNG exports, and traffic conditions there have been one of the main variables driving global energy prices and Iran's currency market in recent weeks.
