According to Mehr News, Russia's Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance chief Sergey Dankvert met with Vahid Salehi, Iran's deputy agriculture minister and head of the Veterinary Organization, to discuss expanding agricultural trade between the two countries. Citing Russian Federal Customs data presented at the meeting, Russia exported 3.2 million tons of agricultural products worth $1.4 billion to Iran from January to June 2026, mainly corn, barley, wheat, sunflower oil and canola oil. Over the same period, Iran exported 495,700 tons of agricultural products worth $588.9 million to Russia, including fresh peppers, lettuce, pistachios and kiwis. The Russian side said greater Iranian fishery exports to Russia would depend on Iran meeting Russian veterinary and phytosanitary requirements.
