26 July 2026 | 3 months ago
Saudia Cargo has launched a direct freighter service between Riyadh and Melbourne. According to the company's announcement reported on Sunday 26 July 2026, the scheduled service began operating on 25 July 2026.
The route is operated by a Boeing 747-400 freighter with a capacity of more than 100 tonnes. The aircraft's nose-loading capability allows it to carry heavy machinery and oversized equipment.
Australia has become an increasingly important trading partner for Saudi Arabia in recent years, particularly in food products, mining, healthcare and industrial goods. Saudia Cargo says it is working with the General Authority for Foreign Trade, the Saudi Export Development Authority and the Saudi-Australian Business Council to widen the reach of Saudi exports.
