According to EcoIran, citing Hamshahri Online and Reuters, the number of ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz on Tuesday, September 15, 2026 (24 Shahrivar 1405) fell to four vessels, down from seven the day before. That compares with a 10 day average of 18 vessels and a pre-war daily average of 125 to 140 vessels before the conflict began in February 2026 (Esfand 1404). The drop came a day after Reuters reported that Donald Trump claimed the United States is helping tankers transit the strait and that countries should pay for the cost of the escort once the conflict ends. The exact routes of the four vessels were not disclosed, though most reported vessels in recent days transited via Iranian waters.
