According to Mehr News Agency, citing Reuters, in a report published Friday, August 14, 2026 (23 Mordad 1405), data from shipping analytics firm Kpler shows tanker traffic through the Strait of Hormuz has fallen in recent days. Only 9 vessels crossed the strait on Thursday, August 13 (22 Mordad), the data showed, down from 5 on Wednesday, August 12 (21 Mordad); both figures are well below the roughly 12 vessels a day that transited the strait on average in August.\n\nOf Thursday's 9 vessels, 5 entered the Persian Gulf and 4 exited toward the Gulf of Oman, with most moving along a route favored by Iran. Through the Bab el-Mandeb strait, 19 cargo vessels with active tracking systems transited on Thursday, a slight decline from 20 the day before. Oilprice.com separately confirmed the same Kpler data in its own report.
