Strait of Hormuz Placed Alongside a List of US Territories in Trump's New Post

According to Mehr News, carried by Donya-e-Eqtesad on Friday, 6 Shahrivar 1405 (August 28, 2026), US President Donald Trump posted a new image on Truth Social that places the Strait of Hormuz alongside a set of US territories and related areas, including Puerto Rico, the Northern Mariana Islands, the US Virgin Islands, Guam, Wake Island, Washington DC, American Samoa, the Federated States of Micronesia and the Marshall Islands. The post came days after Trump repeatedly claimed the Strait of Hormuz should be part of US territory.
The report noted that Trump is approaching the US congressional midterm elections and has previously made similar territorial claims regarding Greenland, Canada, Venezuela and other countries.
