The Tehran Stock Exchange's main index (TEDPIX) opened Wednesday, July 8, 2026 (17 Tir 1405) up about 6,000 points at 5,317,000, a day after Tuesday's 2.4% rally, but reversed sharply in the final 40 minutes of trading as sellers dominated, closing down 24,740 points (0.47%) at 5,286,784, according to Entekhab. The equally weighted index also fell 5,420 points (0.39%) to 1,384,257. Turnover exceeded 48,540 billion tomans across 1.339 million trades. The reversal, following two days of gains, is attributed to profit taking alongside renewed concern over escalating military strikes and oil sanction risk.
