Tehran Stock Exchange's Eight-Week Rally Comes to a Halt

The Tehran Stock Exchange main index, TEDPIX, which had risen for eight straight weeks, fell about 4 percent in the week ending Wednesday, 1 Mehr 1405 (September 23, 2026). According to data recorded on Sahmino, the index slipped from about 7,557,000 points at the close on Wednesday, September 16, to about 7,257,000 points at the close on Wednesday, September 23, a decline of 3.98 percent. Donya-e-Eqtesad reported that the equal-weight index fell 3.8 percent and the Farabourse main index dropped 1 percent after nine consecutive weekly gains.

Donya-e-Eqtesad also reported that average daily retail trading value stayed around 43 trillion tomans (hemat) during the week, while about 16 trillion tomans of individual (retail) money left equities. The dollar value of trading averaged about $188 million a day, and the market's total dollar capitalization stood at about $102 billion at the end of the week.
On the week's last trading day, Wednesday, September 23, the main index rose 1.25 percent after four straight sessions of losses. The stock market reopens on Saturday, 4 Mehr (September 26).
