Tether nears 180,000 toman in Iran's market, tracking the free-market dollar
13 July 2026 | 3 months ago
The price of Tether (USDT) in Iran's domestic market reached about 180,100 toman on Monday, 13 July 2026, sitting close to the free-market dollar, which had neared the 180,000 toman mark the same day. Tether is the most widely used stablecoin and the main on-ramp for Iranians into the global crypto market, and its toman rate typically tracks the floor of the domestic dollar price.
The rise comes as regional military tensions and the U.S. revocation of Iran's temporary oil-sale authorization add pressure to the domestic currency market. Tether's global price held near one dollar as usual, so the change in its toman rate reflects the move in the domestic FX market rather than any swing in the token itself.
