Three Tankers Attacked in Strait of Hormuz as US Revokes Iran Oil Export Waiver
10 July 2026 | 3 months ago
Three commercial vessels, including a Qatari flagged LNG carrier called Al Rekayyat and a Saudi flagged crude oil tanker, were attacked with projectiles and a drone in the Strait of Hormuz on Tuesday, July 7, 2026 (16 Tir). According to the Washington Times, the Al Rekayyat caught fire after being struck by a projectile, though no casualties were reported. The US Treasury Department revoked, on the same day, an authorization issued in June 2026 that had allowed Iran to legally export oil. The move followed the attacks on the vessels and tightened pressure on Iran's oil exports, deepening concerns over the flow of crude from the Persian Gulf.
