Trump Says Iran Ceasefire "Over" But Talks Continue; Tehran Denies Requesting New Negotiations
11 July 2026 | 3 months ago
US President Donald Trump wrote on Friday, July 10, 2026, that the Islamic Republic of Iran had asked to continue "talks" and that Washington had agreed, while stating explicitly that the ceasefire between the two countries "is over." Hours later, an Iranian foreign ministry spokesman denied the claim, saying Tehran had only agreed to a visit by a Qatari delegation and had not made a formal request to resume negotiations. The exchange comes as tensions between the two countries have escalated again since July 7, following an attack on tankers in the Strait of Hormuz.
