A US official told CNBC on Friday, July 10, 2026, that Washington will continue "technical talks" with Iran and remains committed to a diplomatic solution, despite days of exchanged strikes between the two countries. The comment came a day after President Trump, asked about the ceasefire's status at the NATO summit in Ankara, said "I think it's over" and described Iran's attacks on commercial vessels as "acts of terrorism." The official said Trump's position was clear, but that technical discussions between the two sides are ongoing. The 60 day ceasefire had been signed on June 17, 2026.
