Al Jazeera reported on Monday, 19 Mordad 1405 (August 10, 2026), that US President Donald Trump said Washington is currently only "semi negotiating" with Tehran and will wait for economic pressure on Iran to build, describing the approach as "low keying it." In the same report, Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said there are no direct talks under way between Iran and the United States, and stressed that the Strait of Hormuz will not reopen until Washington meets Tehran's demands, including an end to the naval blockade. The remarks come amid weeks of indirect talks between Iran, Oman and the United States over shipping arrangements in the strait.
