The Conference Board's US Consumer Confidence Index fell 1.4 points to 90.8 (1985=100) in July 2026, from an upwardly revised 92.2 in June. The data was released on Tuesday, 28 July 2026 (6 Mordad 1405) and came in below the analyst estimate of 92.3.
The Present Situation Index dropped 3.6 points to 114.9, its third consecutive monthly decline. The Expectations Index was unchanged at 74.7. The survey period ran from 1 to 22 July and covered the ongoing conflict in West Asia.
Dana M. Peterson, Chief Economist at The Conference Board, said consumer confidence moderated slightly in July, continuing its general downward trajectory since late 2021. Consumer confidence is among the readings the Federal Reserve follows when assessing the strength of US domestic demand, a path that reaches Iran's market through the dollar index and the global gold price.
