14 October 2026 | 5 days ago
The US Bureau of Labor Statistics reported on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, that consumer prices rose 3.7 percent over the year to September 2026, compared with 3.4 percent over the year to August. The seasonally adjusted monthly increase in September was 0.6 percent, and the bureau said gasoline accounted for more than half of the monthly rise in the overall index.
Core inflation, excluding food and energy, reached 2.6 percent over the year to September 2026. The release is relevant to assessments of the Federal Reserve's interest-rate path and, in turn, global dollar and gold markets, but it announces no interest-rate decision.
