US Producer Inflation Accelerates in September, Driven by Energy Costs
15 October 2026 | 4 days ago
The US Bureau of Labor Statistics reported on Thursday, October 15, 2026, that final-demand producer prices rose 6.3 percent in September from a year earlier, up from 5.6 percent in August. Energy costs accounted for much of the increase in goods prices.
The index measures the prices US producers receive for goods and services, not consumer inflation. Higher costs at the producer level matter to the outlook for US interest rates and therefore the dollar and global gold markets; the release itself does not announce an interest-rate decision.
