US stock futures slip on Tuesday as a fresh chip selloff meets megacap earnings and the Fed decision

28 July 2026 · 2 months ago

US stock index futures traded lower ahead of the open on Tuesday 28 July 2026 (6 Mordad 1405). S&P 500 futures dipped 0.1 percent and Nasdaq 100 futures fell 0.5 percent, while Dow futures rose 30 points, or 0.06 percent.

The pressure came from a deepening selloff in chipmaker shares, as mounting doubts over the returns on billions of dollars of artificial intelligence spending dragged down Micron, Nvidia, SanDisk, AMD and SK Hynix from Wall Street to Asia. Markets are at the same time waiting for quarterly results from the megacap technology companies and the Federal Reserve's policy decision, both due this week.

In Monday's regular session on 27 July, the Dow gained 0.51 percent and the S&P 500 rose 0.02 percent, while the Nasdaq Composite slipped 0.18 percent.
