Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman, Esmaeil Baghaei, said on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, that US forces bombed a house during a wedding celebration in Kuhestak, part of Sirik county in Hormozgan province, killing at least 5 people, including a child, with more than 50 killed and wounded overall.
Reza Shahidiyan, the governor of Sirik county, told Iran's state broadcaster IRIB that 63 people were wounded, 50 of them women and children, and that all the wounded were taken to a hospital in the nearby city of Minab and were in stable condition. Hossein Kermanpour, an official at Iran's Health Ministry, wrote on X that electricity and telephone service in the area were cut off.
The US military said the strikes were part of a new wave of attacks on Iranian military targets, including air defense sites, radar systems, maritime assets and mine laying facilities, in response to actions by Iran's Revolutionary Guard against commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.
