According to Germany's WirtschaftsWoche, as reported by Oilprice.com on Thursday, 22 Mordad 1405 (August 13, 2026), Porsche management and its works council have agreed in principle to end production of the fully electric Taycan by 2030. Porsche has not confirmed the report, instead pointing to July comments from CEO Michael Leiters that there were no immediate plans to discontinue the model.
According to the report, Taycan sales, after launching in 2019 as Porsche's first fully electric production car, fell from 40,629 units in 2023 to 20,836 in 2024 and then 22 percent further to 16,339 in 2025. Porsche's global deliveries in the first half of 2026 fell 16 percent to 122,306 vehicles, with a 32 percent drop in China accounting for much of the decline. Porsche has separately announced plans to cut about 9,000 jobs by 2035.
