Assets of the Rose Toranj gold fund reach 10,000 billion tomans over one year

Jul 29, 2026

Mehr News Agency and Eghtesad Online reported on Tuesday 28 July 2026 that assets under management at the Rose Toranj gold fund have reached 10,000 billion tomans, a rise of 900 percent over one year.

Gold-based commodity funds are a vehicle for indirect investment in gold: instead of buying physical coins or bullion, the investor trades fund units on the exchange. Rapid growth in the assets of such funds is generally read as a sign that part of retail liquidity is seeking a hedge against currency volatility and inflation.

The report was published on a day when, according to market coverage, gold and silver funds on the Tehran exchange closed lower on Tuesday 28 July, with part of the liquidity rotating into fixed income funds.

Labor minister announces installment gold purchase at fixed price for retirees via Zarrin Tamin platform

Ahmad Meidari, Iran's Minister of Cooperatives, Labour and Social Welfare, announced on Monday, September 14, 2026 (23 Shahrivar 1405), that retirees can now buy gold in installments at a fixed price. Under the plan, retirees register on the Bank Refah "Zarrin Tamin" platform with their national ID and declare how much gold they want to buy over the next three months; the cost is then deducted from their monthly pension over that period. Meidari said the gold price is locked in from registration until the end of the three month period, so any price increase in that window becomes a gain for the retiree. The purchase ceiling is set according to the central bank's sales authorization. He added that the gold supplied under the plan does not come from bank reserves but from domestic mine output, with proceeds reinvested to expand the country's gold production.
