20 trillion rials in temporary housing deposit loans to be paid to war-affected households

The head of the executive board of Iran's National Housing Fund said in remarks published on Monday, Aug. 3, 2026 (12 Mordad 1405) that, with 50% participation by Bank Maskan, 20 trillion rials (2 trillion tomans) will be paid out as interest-free temporary housing deposit loans to applicants who have been identified and referred.
The loans go to households whose homes were damaged in the recent war and who need temporary accommodation until reconstruction is finished. A housing deposit loan covers a rental deposit rather than a property purchase.
The scheme runs alongside the programme to rebuild damaged units. In Bushehr province alone, 8,456 residential, commercial and livelihood units were damaged in the recent war.
