A retail price survey published by the newspaper Donya-e-Eqtesad on Sunday, 2 August 2026, shows a 30 egg tray selling for about 600,000 toman at some Iranian retailers, with single eggs going for up to 25,000 toman. At the per egg rate, buying 30 eggs costs 750,000 toman, meaning consumers who cannot afford a full tray pay more in small purchases.

Mohammad Moradi, chief executive of the Mihan central union of layer poultry farmers, said that after the change in the exchange rate the union calculated the cost of producing a kilogram of eggs at about 260,000 toman, while the Agriculture Ministry had put the farm gate figure at 235,000 toman. He said farmers are still selling below cost and have taken heavy losses over the past four months.

Moradi added that no eggs are currently being exported, that national monthly consumption stands at about 85,000 tonnes, and that output this month is reaching around 95,000 tonnes. According to ISNA, export restrictions were imposed after the price of a tray passed 600,000 toman in some areas, and exports to destinations including Afghanistan, Iraq and the Persian Gulf states were reopened once prices fell back to a range of 470,000 to 560,000 toman.
