Sunday, 26 July 2026 (4 Mordad 1405), passed without any reported strikes between the United States and Iran for a second consecutive day, a temporary end to nearly two weeks of nightly bombardment. According to Al Jazeera and Anadolu Agency, the pause began on Friday evening, 24 July, without any official announcement.
According to CNBC, Iran has said it will keep its own operations suspended for as long as the American halt on strikes holds. Iranian officials told Anadolu that the pause in Iran's military action is a response to the suspension of US strikes rather than a sign of broader de-escalation. At the same time, Qatar and Pakistan have intensified their mediation efforts toward a wider reduction in tensions between Washington and Tehran, while technical consultations between Iran and Oman on a mechanism for shipping through the Strait of Hormuz continue.
The pause had an immediate market effect: Brent crude fell more than 5 percent, and the free-market dollar in Tehran retreated into the 185,000-toman channel on Sunday. No formal ceasefire agreement has been announced, however, and either side could resume operations.
