ADNOC Vessel Struck by Missile While Transiting Strait of Hormuz
8 August 2026 | 2 months ago
The UAE state news agency reported on Saturday, August 8, 2026 (17 Mordad 1405) that a vessel belonging to Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) was struck by a missile while transiting the Strait of Hormuz. According to Reuters, Emirati officials attributed the attack to Iran. Further details on the extent of damage or the vessel's cargo have not yet been released. The incident is the latest in a series of attacks on ADNOC vessels in the strait. ADNOC said on Friday, August 7, 2026 (16 Mordad 1405), that 15 of its ships had been struck while transiting Hormuz since the war began, three of them in the week ending that day, and that the repeated attacks were having a significant effect on its operations. Iran and Oman say they are in the final stages of an agreement on safe transit routes through the strait, though the continuing attacks show the risk to shipping there has not fully eased.
