Aftab Khodro to supply 1,700 Mazda and Volvo cars by the end of 1405 and will sell only after vehicles clear into customs

Mohammad Kazemi, chief executive of Aftab Khodro, said at a company news conference on Monday, 27 July 2026 (5 Mordad 1405), that a total of 1,700 Mazda and Volvo vehicles will be brought to market by the end of the Iranian year 1405, comprising 700 Volvo XC70s and 1,000 Mazda EZ60s of the 2025 model year. He also said the Mazda 3 and the Mazda CX50 would be added to the company's line-up in the second half of this year.
The most significant policy change is that vehicles will be offered for sale only after they have entered the country and are held in customs. Kazemi said selling products that have not yet arrived in Iran is not part of the company's plan. The stated aims are to reduce delivery delays, avoid leaving buyers in limbo and make the sales process more transparent. The change comes in a market where pre-selling imported cars that have not arrived has been a contested issue.
Kazemi said regional tensions and higher maritime shipping risk in recent months had left some of the company's consignments stranded at intermediate ports around the Persian Gulf, and that imports resumed after the supply chain was redesigned and transit routes changed, a step that also raised freight and marine insurance costs. He said the company has so far invested 5 million dollars in sourcing Mazda parts and 2.5 million euros in Volvo parts, and has set up 20 authorised dealerships.
