Gholamreza Nouri, Iran's Minister of Agriculture, said on Monday 27 July 2026 that at Sunday's cabinet meeting, and at the insistence of President Masoud Pezeshkian, a further 50,000 billion tomans had been earmarked to settle payments owed to wheat growers, with the money to be deposited into their accounts in the coming days.
He also reported that 17,000 billion tomans of wheat growers' claims were paid on Sunday 26 July, and said guaranteed wheat purchases have so far reached 6.8 million tons.
The minister stressed that securing the funds and speeding up payments to wheat growers is a priority for the government and his ministry. The pace of these payments bears directly on farmers' willingness to deliver the rest of their crop to the state.
