29 July 2026 | 3 months ago
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held a telephone conversation on Wednesday 29 July 2026 (7 Mordad 1405) with Kaja Kallas, the European Union's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy. According to Mehr News Agency, the two sides reviewed the latest regional and international developments, ways to reduce tensions, and matters relating to stability and security in the region.
Following the call, Kallas said in a message that she was ready to support ongoing efforts. No further detail on the substance of the conversation was released by either side.
Iran's diplomatic track with the European Union matters to domestic markets, because expectations of escalation or de-escalation are among the variables that move the exchange rate and the gold market. The free market dollar stood at 193,000 tomans as of 13:29 the same day, 1.47 percent above the previous day.
