The head of Iran's Audit Organization said on Wednesday 29 July 2026 (7 Mordad 1405) that the audit process is being moved onto an electronic platform with the launch of a system named Shahab. Under the announcement, the entire process from signing the engagement contract to the final report will run on the system.
He said that in later stages the system will be equipped with artificial intelligence capabilities. The precise timetable for those later stages and the range of companies covered were not stated in the announcement.
The Audit Organization audits a large share of state owned companies and state affiliated listed companies, so the speed and transparency of the audit process bears on the timing of financial statement releases and shareholder assemblies at those companies.
