Araghchi Tells Saudi Counterpart Iran Is Ready to Help Start Riyadh-Yemen Dialogue
12 October 2026 | 8 days ago
Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi spoke by phone with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan about regional developments; the Saudi state news agency reported the call, and Al Jazeera and EcoIran carried it. According to Al Jazeera on Monday, 20 Mehr 1405 (12 October 2026), the two ministers discussed the escalation after Houthi attacks on Saudi airports.
In a Telegram post on Sunday 19 Mehr, Araghchi wrote that insisting on a military approach while disregarding political solutions would complicate the situation further and that the region's crises have no military solution. He said Iran is ready to provide any help needed to start a dialogue between Saudi Arabia and Yemen and reach a political solution. Al Jazeera notes that Iranian and Saudi diplomatic ties, with embassies restored under the 2023 Chinese-brokered agreement, have endured, although relations have worsened since the start of the US-Israel war on Iran in late February.
