Aref Gives One Week to Draw Up the Full Sources and Uses of Subsidy Funding

According to EcoIran, citing Mashregh, the government's economic team, chaired by First Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref and attended by the economy minister, the central bank governor and the head of the Plan and Budget Organization, met on Monday, 28 September 2026 (6 Mehr 1405) to discuss funding the targeted-subsidy programme for more than 75 million people in the second half of the Iranian year.

Aref ordered that within one week a comprehensive package be drawn up setting out precisely the sources and uses of targeted-subsidy funding, including ways to collect government receivables and save energy; once approved by the government, it will be implemented with the cooperation of parliament and the judiciary. The meeting also received a report on first-half spending, including cash subsidies, the Kalabarg food-coupon scheme, flour and bread subsidies, and the exchange-rate difference for medicine and infant formula.
