Bazrafshan attributed the rise to a roughly 10,000-toman increase in the unofficial-market dollar, even as, he said, the global gold ounce had fallen $144 after the weekend to $4,153. He said the market was not in turmoil and urged people to wait before trading while prices are volatile. Sahmino's own data at 16:00 on Monday likewise show the Emami coin at about 247 million tomans, up 2.7 percent on the day, the free-market dollar at about 243,900 tomans and the gold ounce at about $4,155.
